It's time to #GoLocal: How to boost domestic travel?

The tourism sector suffered big time during the Corona crisis. Returning to "normal" is not that easy, the danger of contamination is still lurking around the corner. The fear to travel is still present, especially when it comes to foreign international trips.

A holiday close to home seems like the perfect compromise. Cities, travel agencies and tour operators are launching massive campaigns to encourage local tourism. So does OTA (online travel agency) Agoda, with a powerful, inspiring campaign, which both accommodation owners and travellers can take advantage of.

GoLocal: a campaign by Agoda across all platforms

The GoLocal initiative aims - as the name suggests - to promote local tourism. The video below shows their message beautifully:

"We will encourage to safely learn to travel again & help to find the widest choice and best value deals to do so.”

Agoda

In addition to promotion on agoda.com/golocal and their social media channels, Agoda also aims to collaborate with the accommodation operators on the platform. They ask European hotels, B&Bs or holiday homes to offer an extra discount to European guests in order to encourage this target group to travel and thus generate more bookings. In return, the participating partners receive clear visibility on the various platforms as well as a special badge.

"I’ll cherish my own backyard, with its wonders great and small. I’ll get to know the locals, they’re my neighbors after all"
